Dear friend,
Far too often, church buildings with several stairs up to the entrance send an unspoken but clear message to disabled and elderly people – "You're not welcome here." The narrow aisles and pews that leave no room for a walker or wheelchair silently tell them – "We don't have any place for you."
Check out the ARC – our Agape Restoration Communities – five sketches for these 12-living-unit buildings with four 1-bedroom homes, two 2- or 3-bedroom homes, and a community room/chapel on the first floor, and a balcony, four 1-bedroom homes, two 2-bedroom homes on the second floor, all wheelchair-accessible.
But this accessibility doesn't mean we should just send off disabled and elderly people to an ARC as a "rest home" – we invite young singles, married couples with families, and middle-aged empty nesters who all learn how to babysit and/or provide home health care, etc. – so the ARC is a true well-rounded Christian church, a community where people really care for each other, where the design and stated purpose say to all, including disabled and elderly people – "You're welcome here!"
We are pro-life Christians, but it's proving quite difficult – even with the U.S. Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade nationwide abortion ruling being overturned a few years ago – to stop the killing of unborn babies, now by mail-order abortion pills. What we need is Christian communities that provide pre-school child care support for young families, as well as in-home healthcare for disabled and elderly people. That's the task of the Church, not expecting the government to provide these services "for free," disguising the true cost by issuing more and more devalued dollars, a hidden tax called "inflation."
Get 2 PDFs: first, "Agape Restoration Communities - Brief Overview," a 1-sheet (2-sided) "management summary" to give you a bird's-eye view of the Agape Restoration Community concept with two drawings.
If you're still interested, get the second document: "Biblical Basis for the Agape Restoration Society," a 12-page paper (6 sheets) including five full-page sketches of our plans for "Agape Restoration Communities," or the same text and sketches in "Building the ARC," a handy 5.5" x 8.5" 16-page booklet (4 sheets).
These free PDF documents explain how these communities will operate, and quote in detail how a similar organization with about 25 such communities organizes and finances their non-profit housing cooperatives. There are hundreds and hundreds of faith-based residential communities all over the U.S. for the elderly and disabled, and Christian housing cooperatives, but by Building the ARC, we can combine them into one! Also, join our A.R.C. Chat/Video Forum to keep informed as these Agape Restoration Communities develop!
Lay people, pastors and deacons: find out how YOU can have a self-financing worship and ministry center to serve "the poor, the lame, the maimed and the blind" like Jesus Christ, His Apostles and the Early Church did. Study our free courses to see how YOU can do diakonia-ministry.
Yours sincerely,
"Dr. Bob"
